Apple rolls out iOS 16.2 Beta 4 update to testers with improved Notification Center: Report

Apple is said to have started rolling out iOS 16.2 Beta 4, the latest public beta for eligible iPhone models. The update is currently available for public testing to improve the way users access and view their notifications on phones that have been updated to the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system. iPhone developers and beta testers registered on the latest iOS 16.2 Beta 4 update will now be able to see their notifications by swiping up in the Notification Center. iOS 16.2 was first released to beta testers by iPhones based in Cupertino, California in October and was supposed to roll out to all users later this month.

Developers and beta testers registered with Apple will be able to download the iOS 16.2 Beta 4 update from the company’s Developer Center, according to a report by MacRumors. updates test an improved way to access and view notifications by limiting the need to scroll, reports The Verge.

Users on iOS 16 and earlier versions like iOS 15 required to manually swipe up and scroll from the middle of Notification Center to access older notifications. Simply unlocking the phone and locking it again causes iOS 16 and later to treat them as stale notifications and send them to the Notification Center even if the user hasn’t read them. Since displaying older notifications on Notification Center requires more effort when swiping up, they can be missed entirely.

This is something Apple seems to be trying to fix by introducing a simpler way to access both old and new notifications on Notification Center. The company will reportedly limit the gesture required for a single swipe.

It’s worth noting, however, that the changes being tested are said to be limited to the notification center only and do not change the way notifications are displayed on the lock screen. If this is true, the notification center may continue to hide older notifications unless the user swipes up from the center of the screen.

Currently, there is still no confirmation from Apple about the features being tested on the latest iOS 16.2 Beta 4 update for developers, and it is also unknown if the features reported as experimental are available. appear on iOS 16.2 completely stable or not. is expected to arrive later this month.

Apple before roll out update to iOS 16.1.2 for all users with compatible iPhone models last week, which improves crash detection for iPhone 14″ and iPhone 14 Pro user.
