Apple reportedly blocked Tata Group’s massive Vivo deal: Here’s everything you need to know


Tata Group’s major deal to acquire a majority of Vivo’s India business has reportedly been blocked by Apple. According to a Times of India report, the Cupertino-based tech giant was unhappy with the idea of ​​Tata Group taking a majority stake in its rival’s India business. Reports suggested that Vivo wanted to sell a 51% stake in its Indian subsidiary to Tata Group. While neither company has confirmed the deal, it has now been scrapped.

How Apple got involved in the Tata Group-Vivo deal

Apple is not directly involved in the deal between Tata Group and Vivo. However, Apple is a major partner of Tata Group, which currently manufactures iPhones in India with a workforce of 10,000 employees. Since Apple is betting big on the Indian market, the deal between the two parties could get bigger in the future. As a partner, Apple is not happy about Tata buying a stake in its rival.

To recall, Apple partner Wistron sold its Karnataka plant to Tata Group for around $125 million after deciding to shut down its operations in India. Tata Group is currently manufacturing the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 14, and other models at this plant. Vivo deal failure could be huge blow to Tata Group

Tata Group’s move to scrap its Vivo deal because of Apple could force the company to reassess its future strategies.
