Apple may prepare a pair of MacBook Pro with new M2 chip for launch in late 2022
New from Apple MacBook Pro Models that will theoretically launch with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips won’t launch this month, but should arrive before the end of the year, according to Grapevine.
This comes from one of the more trusted sources of all Apple matters, Mark Gurman (and his ever Bloomberg (opens in a new tab) newsletter), where, among other things, he stated that New iPad Pro to be going to happen (interesting), but not the MacBook Pro (less interesting).
But the good news is that the MacBook Pro with the M2 Pro and M2 Max silicon – which are upgraded on the M2, as was the case with the M1 that came with these later variants – are “on track to launch in the near future.” “.
Gurman theorizes that the most likely time for these refurbished laptops to reach customers is in November, because as the leaker pointed out, traditionally when new Mac Hardware liberated. It certainly seems like he believes they’ll be here before the year is out, no matter what; with all the usual skepticism surrounding rumor applied. (Though it should be remembered that this isn’t the only time we’ve heard rumors about These MacBook Pros will be available before 2022).
Gurman noted that the first release of macOS Ventura adds support for these upcoming 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro laptops.
Also on the Mac front, Gurman confirmed that Apple is currently working on a new version of the Mac mini that will have Chip M2 internal.
Analysis: Minimal change, minimal fuss…
The big change to these MacBook Pro laptops will be the addition of more powerful processors, and Gurman sees that beyond this, any differences with these devices will be minimal. . So don’t expect much other than engine upgrades of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro.
This will be a low-key launch, the leaker believes, simply because there aren’t any big moves to be seen with the hardware that could make it worthy of some big flashy (or even a moderately small event).
It’s also worth noting that Gurman said he didn’t expect MacBooks to arrive alongside the iPad Pro, but that doesn’t mean Apple can’t make a surprise move and get rid of them. So you never know, the laptops might arrive earlier than anticipated (or for that matter, the iPad Pro models could arrive later).
For Mac mini, an M2 version is suitable for Gurman’s Past Rumors in which he claims that Apple is working on an M1 Pro-toting spin on compact PCs (launching late 2021 or early 2022), but has abandoned that idea in favor of using the M2 chip.
Previously, the idea seemed to have a Mac mini with vanilla M2 and also a model with M2 Pro, which makes sense in terms of them along with Mac Studio (the latter at the top). But we’ll see, and Gurman didn’t mention which chips could be used in the meantime.
