Apple only wraps up its big iPhone event, where they announced a bunch of new products, including iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, two new iPhone Pro models, and more. We quickly ran over to take a look at the new iPhone 14 Pro to show you what it’s like.

As you can see above, it looks very similar to last year’s model from the back. But, there are some notable changes. It’s no surprise that the camera is even better – Apple marks the camera improvements every year – and includes a 48-megapixel sensor for sharper photos and more light.

The big changes are on the screen and inside. For example, there’s the new satellite connection, which allows you to point your phone toward the satellite to send messages or call emergency services for which you don’t have cellular service.

The Pro also boasts an always-on display that allows you to quickly see notifications, see playing music, track flights, etc., without having to wake the screen every time. You can just leave your phone on the table and flip through whenever you want to see what’s going on. It’s similar to a feature that’s been on Android phones for years.

There’s also a new pill-shaped cutout that replaces the empty “notch” that previously housed the Face ID camera and sensor. The camera and sensor are still there, just hidden. It can show you notifications or status updates, and even the album art of the song you’re playing. Here is a brief overview:

The pillbox contains the top changes for notifications, music, sports scores, and more.

It’s super small in person, so here’s a closer look at what Apple showed off at the event:

You can tap that pill to see the song you’re playing or more information about the space notification. Apple calls the feature “Dynamic Island” and says it will work with alarms, AirDrop, flight alerts, AirPods pairing and charging indicator, notifications about the status of your Lyft trip, and more .
