Apple has announced the list of the 2022 App Store Awards winners to highlight the 15 best apps and games of the year across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV categories. The list includes the new social media app BeReal, the productivity tool GoodNotes 5, the live 3D family genealogy app MacFamilyTree 10, the Latin American entertainment platform ViX, and the Gentler Streak workout tracker. The Cupertino tech giant has awarded Apex Legends Mobile, Moncage, Inscryption, and El Hijo as the best titles on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV respectively.
The company’s picks for the top apps and games for 2022 were announced in a press release blog post. Apple CEO Tim Cook said in a statement that all of the apps and games on the list “provide fresh, thoughtful, and authentic perspectives.”
The company also separately published a list that includes five ‘Cultural Impact Winners’, which the company claims has had “a lasting impact on people’s lives and influences culture” by ” interact more deeply with their emotions.” How We Feel, a storytelling app that highlights inequities in the housing system and its impact on people of color – Dot’s Home, utility app – Locket Widget, app Waterllama completed this year’s list of cultural impact winners, and history discovery app Inua – A Story in Ice and Time completed the list of awards in the Cultural Impact category.
BeReal was named iPhone App of the Year, while GoodNotes 5 received the title of iPad App of the Year. Meanwhile, MacFamilyTree 10 is Mac App of the Year. ViX was named Apple TV App of the Year, while Gentler Streak won Apple Watch App of the Year.
In addition to these apps, Apple has named the best games available on the App Store. Apex Mobile Legends won the iPhone Game of the Year award. Meanwhile, Moncage took the title of Game of the Year on iPad.
