Apex Legends Season 16 brings Team Deathmatch, the first season without a new hero

Apex Legends season 16 is coming soon, and before that, Respawn Entertainment revealed some new changes to the game. For the first time, the new season will not introduce a new hero/character to the game. Instead, the studio is adding the much-requested Team Deathmatch mode, which pits six players against each other in a high-stakes battle. The new season, titled ‘Revelry’, will also rework its Legendary classes, while adding a new powered weapon called the Nemesis. Apex Legends season 16 begins February 14 on all major platforms.

Team Deathmatch, like the precious time-limited modes in top legend, will be available for the first three weeks of the new season. According to Kotaku, the new game mode will be similar to deathmatches in other games — with no downtime, with the ability to quickly respawn as players collect kill kills for their team. With six players on either side, the first team to kill 30 lives wins the round. It’s one of the three best scenarios, where winning two rounds takes your team to victory. At the start of the match, the player will be given a set of equipment that includes a variety of weapons, along with a grenade. That said, if your team is at a disadvantage, you can switch between heroes at will – just like guard — and use their skill set to your advantage.

Which says, Revival entertainment is removing Arenas game mode from top legend. “At its core, Apex Legends is a Battle Royale and the team wanted to help players master the core game mode, and in its current state, Arenas doesn’t meet our goals.” blog post read. The idea behind incorporating non-combat modes in Apex Legends is to familiarize new players with the game’s core loop, which involves switching between weapons, characters, and skills, then Their knowledge can be transferred to the main game. On the other hand, you’ll find most new players completely swept up in the ring by experienced players within minutes of landing on the map.

Respawn also brings alternate mode playlists for limited-time events. Dubbed ‘Mixtape’, the new feature is expected to launch in early March and will allow players to choose between TDM, Gun Run, and Control rotation modes — tense situations with low downtime. Additionally, there’s a new weapon — the Nemesis — coming soon, but the studio hasn’t revealed much beyond confirming it’s energy-based.

As said earlier, in season 16, the developer broke with tradition and will not release a new hero. Instead, the team is reworking their Rank system by assigning each Legend to one of them. Currently, there are five classes: Attack, Reconnaissance, Controller, Combat, and Support. “Each class will now have some sort of unique, meaningful perk—whether that’s how Legends can interact with new loot crates or new ways to revive teammates,” the blog reads. Previously, all 23 characters on the roster were categorized as Attack, Defense, Reconnaissance, and Support. More information on the same will be revealed in time, according to Respawn.

Apex Legends season 16 — Revelry — begins February 14 computer, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox oneAnd Xbox Series S/X. Earlier this month, studio announced that it is turning off the portable version.
