‘Apex Legends Mobile’ launches in 10 countries next week

It took almost three years, but Apex Legends Mobile almost here – at least for some. Respawn has announced “regional limited launch” next week for 10 countries including Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Colombia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines and Singapore. Then you might be in luck if you’re reading this, but these early adopters will be playing on both Android and iOS.

The small-scale release will last through spring and help the team refine gameplay and features ahead of a broader launch, Respawn said. The original mobile character roster is based mainly on characters available when Apex Legends launching in 2019, although the fast-moving Octane will also be an option.

Respawn emphasizes that you won’t see crossplay with non-mobile platforms. You will need at least an iPhone 6s to play on iOS, while Android users will need 3GB of RAM and support for OpenGL 3.0 or higher graphics. Developers have focused their Android optimization on popular brands like Samsung, Oppo and Xiaomi.

Limited launch can be frustrating if you want to play one Fortnite or PUBG to replace. Still, it’s understandable to take a cautious approach. Apex Legends is one of the few battle royale games to achieve lasting success, and the mobile launch represents a huge opportunity to expand the game’s reach. A careful launch could be the key to competing against other heavyweights and keeping Top attention for many years to come.
