Via Charles Brun: Dereck Chisora is picking Anthony Joshua to turn his career around with wins over Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury in 2022 to become the undisputed heavyweight champion.
The current situation for the British heavyweights is looking bleak, as Joshua (24-2, 22 KOs) and Chisora, in the same boat, are going downhill before retiring.
Whether he likes it or not, another loss for Joshua could be the endgame for him, and he will most likely lose in a rematch against IBF/WBA/WBO champion Usyk ( 19-0, 13 KOs).
That’s why boxing fans tried to encourage Joshua to rethink the idea of fighting Usyk in an immediate rematch because it was a bad decision.
It’s as if Joshua threw reason out the window and just made his career decisions based on hope. Joshua hopes things will go well for him in his rematch with Usyk, but that’s not likely to happen.
Joshua has a secret plan for the Usyk rematch
“I think AJ won for the second time in that period,“Chisora said to TalkSPORT. “I asked him what he would do [in the rematch], he say: ‘You will see.‘”
There’s no point in Joshua trying to be mysterious about what he’s up to in his rematch with Usyk because the ENTIRE world knows what he’s up to.
He will beat Usyk at the start and hope that he can catch him with a big shot before he blows off steam for two or three innings.
It’s clear what Joshua’s little plan is for his second bout against 2012 Olympic gold medalist Usyk, and he and his team know full well that’s what AJ is up to.
Joshua can also openly discuss his battle plans for the rematch because there’s nothing mysterious about it. There’s nothing else the massive 6’6″, 245 lb Joshua can do.
If he tries to box Usyk again, he will be sent to the school a second time. Joshua could only return to the way he was before to fight when his promoter Eddie Hearn pitted him against the likes of Gary Cornish, Raphael Zumbano, Michael Sprott, Matt Legg or Dorian Darch.
Joshua, 32, has lost two of his last four bouts, while Chisora has suffered three straight losses. One more defeat for Joshua would have earned him three of his previous five contests, which suggests he has nothing left.
Chisora says Joshua beat Fury
