Anthony Dirrell to Caleb Plant: “Just Don’t Run”

Via Robert Segal: Anthony Dirrell and former IBF super-middleweight champion Caleb ‘Sweethands’ Plant exchanged some harsh words during Thursday’s final press conference for Saturday’s main support match on the Deontay Wilder vs. Robert Helenius on FOX Sports pay-per-view at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

‘Sweethands’ Plant (21-1, 12 KOs) first lifesteal when he says, “He doesn’t like me.” It was remarked that Plant recycled the entire build up to the battle, and Dirrell (34-2, 25 KOs) had finally heard enough of it, and he protested by telling Plant was hit recently,”I don’t have to like you.

From there, Dirrell and Plant went back and forth, stealing programming from the event’s main fighters Deontay Wilder & Robert Helenius, who had little interesting to say in today’s press conference. Dirrell basically saved the press conference with him throwing Plant in the trash.

It’s pathetic that Plant says essentially the same things from interview to interview without offering a different perspective on his fight with Dirrell. After weeks of Plant repeating himself, Dirrell got fed up with him, and he blew up the Tennessee native.

“You keep giving the same ***. That I don’t like you. I don’t have to like you,” Anthony Dirrell told Caleb Plant during Thursday’s final press conference.

“Fuck, there’s nothing in the rule book that says I have to like your one**. Where it is? Let me see.

Do not run. Don’t get on your bike, b ** ch. Who did you fight with? Speak to me. Tell me who you fought with. Shut. Stop talking.”

“The only way you can retire me is to run around the f**** ring until I get old. That’s the only way you can retire me; there’s nothing you can do, man. F*** What can you do? You can’t hit,” said Dirrell.

If Plant loses this fight, he will never hear the end of it because he is the favorite and the younger fighter of the two. However, Plant will lose to Canelo Alvarez in round 11, and he has shown the same fitness problems he did in the fight against Jose Uzcategui.

Plant will be on his bike Saturday night as he lacks the strength in his punches to stand up and have a real fight with the high-handed Dirrell. Also, Plant’s fuel tank is too limited for him to fight Dirrell as he will die out just as quickly as he did against Canelo and Uzcategui.

Dirrell feels like he’s being wiped out

“Probably age. That’s all I can think of,” Dirrell told Against TV Hub when asked why he thinks boxing fans are abandoning him. “I have proven myself many times. I don’t need to prove myself to anyone.

“Caleb fought two people, and everyone knows it. Everyone knows those two [Canelo Alvarez & Jose Uzcategui]. Just knew I was going to beat one of his on Saturday. No,” Dirrell said when asked if he respected Plant.

“Outside the ring, be friendly, respectful, and he’s not. I wouldn’t say it hurt me in some way, but it made me feel good. No,” Dirrell said when asked if he planned to shake Plant’s hand after the fight. “It has nothing to do with a handshake. I still don’t like f**** mom.

“Everyone has pros and cons. I’ll have to see when I get in there,” Dirrell continued. “David Benavidez is tall; he has progressed a lot. I think I did what I needed to do in that fight until I got cut.

“You have to approach every war differently than the previous one,” says Dirrell.
