Anthony Davis ‘likely’ to miss another four to five weeks?

The Los Angeles Lakers know they won’t be without Anthony Davis for a while, but a new report suggests the striker’s absence could be even longer than anticipated.

Davis sprained his right foot in his final game before the All-Star break, and he was initially evaluated for another four weeks. However, the Lakers are concerned that Davis may be absent for another 4-5 weeks to the present time, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

That timeline will ensure that Davis won’t return until very close to the knockout stages. For the Lakers, that could pose a problem, as the team is currently ninth in the Western Conference. That could put them in a trial game.

The Lakers are only 17-20 with Davis on the roster this season, so he can’t be considered the key to their success – or lack thereof this campaign. However, the longer his absence, the heavier the responsibility will be the players seem a bit lacking in their depth.
