Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’s villain was almost played by someone else
Jonathan Majors almost missed the chance to play Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘ villain, the actor has revealed.
Talking to Vanity Fair (opens in a new tab)Majors revealed that he almost quit competing Kang the conqueror in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Reason? MarvelHis executive team is extremely busy when the Majors come to a meeting to discuss appearing in the MCU, and he doesn’t want to hang around and waste anyone’s time.
“I hope this doesn’t bite my ass, but I’ve stepped out of my Marvel general [meeting]”, he explained. “This was a long time ago. I just graduated from drama school and I’m running around town and I’m sitting in the office. I grew up in a very special way and I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. So I went in there and they were just busy. And I was like, ‘I have to be here, don’t I?’ It lasted and I said, ‘I’m going. It’s great. I’ll go.'”
Luckily for the Majors – and MCU fans – country of love The actor was stopped before he could leave Marvel Studios headquarters. “I went to the door, but then they said [casting director] Sarah Finn is coming,” Majors explained. “We went into the room and talked. We had this great conversation. I think it took three years before we had a conversation with Kang. And now no more worries, especially because of who Kang is. When I said yes, we got the big picture and what was being presented was cohesive.”
Analysis: a major addition to the MCU
Experts will play an important role in the MCU moving forward. He appeared as one of the variations of Kang – He Who Remains – in Loki season 1and will officially debut a Marvel movie as Kang in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumaniain theaters tomorrow (February 17).
Set to be the MCU’s next big bad guy, Kang will appear throughout Marvel phase 5 and Phase 6. The time-traveling, wisdom lord will prove to be a formidable foe for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes over the next few years, especially with an actor of Major’s caliber. portray this role – or roles, as there are multiple versions of Kang across the multiverse.
Majors has been praised for his portrayal of The Remainer in the season 1 finale of Loki, and critics have been equally praising his character Kang in the series. Ant-Man 3. in us Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania reviewwe were told that Majors “dominated every scene he was in” and would “be solidified as one of the greatest supervillains of all time” by the time his MCU arc ends.
The Majors-conquering performance didn’t come as a surprise to Marvel President Kevin Feige either. Talking to Weekly entertainment (opens in a new tab), Feige revealed Majors’ Kang as “the most challenged villain we’ve ever had”. Considering some of the great MCU villains we’ve seen in recent years, including Loki, Killmonger, and Thanos, that’s impressive.
Thankfully, Kang will become a permanent character in the MCU in the near future. Kang – or at least one/many variants of him – will get his own Thanos-focused MCU movie in 2025, aka. Avengers: Kang Dynasty. He is also expected to appear in other Marvel projects, with rumors suggesting he will appear in Loki season 2 ABOVE Disney Plusand another 2023 MCU movie comes out marvelous. Kang is also likely to appear in dead man 3 And Avengers: Secret War, is positioned as a film spanning the multiverse. In our opinion, the more Jonathan Majors in the MCU, the better.
