Via Charles Brun: Oleksandr Usyk promoter Alex Krassyuk says they have agreed on a March 4 deadline for an undisputed heavyweight title fight with Tyson Fury, possibly in the Middle East.
Krassyuk says the worst case scenario would be Fury vs Usyk at Wembley Stadium in London. The Middle East is where the war will likely end.
Krassyuk did not mention plans if WBC champion Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) starts giving Usyk a deadline for him to sign. That would be another example of Fury’s arbitrary negotiating approach. Fury’s promoter, Bob Arum, needs to muzzle him to keep him quiet during negotiations.
Fury ruined his negotiations with Anthony Joshua, which ultimately cost him the fortune of a King, being left with Derek Chisora to fight.
“Even if Tyson spoke Ukrainian, it wouldn’t change much. Usyk is difficult. He went through many challenges in his life,” promoter Alex Krassyuk told Mondaydiscuss the interaction between Oleksandr & Tyson Fury following Gyspy King’s recent win over Derek Chisora on December 3 at Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in London.
“We are negotiating with three countries in the Middle East and we still have the UK option. the worst thing [case] script, it goes to Wembley.
“In any other scenario, it takes place in the Middle East. Usyk said the deadline we agreed to is March 4.
Fury will need to tweak his game if he has any chance of beating Usyk because the way he fought in his last two fights is way too simplistic to beat a talent like Oleksandr.
In other words, it won’t work if Fury chooses to throw a shot and immediately rush in to grab a clincher. That one-sided approach for Fury will be disrupted by Usyk all the time, who will avoid his bear-like moves and counter him all the time.
The lean Fury tends to use non-stop during his fights will need to be thrown in the trash during camp as it won’t work on Usyk. Fury should train his stamina in camp because he can’t rely on clinching & lean to try to beat Usyk.
