Andy Ruiz reacts to Wilder wanting to get over him and fight Joshua next
Andy Ruiz Jr has noted that Deontay Wilder is looking to skip a fight with him to face former champion, Anthony Joshua.
Ruiz, who recently defeated twelve-year-old Luis Ortiz, was asked by the WBC to face Wilder in a final elimination bout for Tyson Fury’s title.. While many fans welcome matchmaking, it seems Wilder wants to make other plans.
His manager, Shelly Finkel, this week contacted Eddie Hearn, who represents Anthony Joshua. Finkel said that was the fight Wilder wanted in his match against Ruiz, and would “do whatever” to make it happen.
Fans have been calling for Joshua and the ‘Bronze Bomber’ to go head to head ever since they were champions of the tournament. Now, since both men have lost, the belt is no longer an issue, but the plot remains.
So where does this leave Andy Ruiz? He knows nothing better than the fans. He responded to a tweet about the news with a shrug emoji.

Ruiz became the first Mexican heavyweight champion in history when he defeated Joshua in Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately for him, a combination of poor preparation and a new game plan by ‘AJ’ cost him the belt in the immediate rematch.
If Wilder and Joshua do indeed sit around the negotiating table and come to an agreement, the WBC will order Ruiz to face another in the knockout final. Behind him in the ranking is Frank Sanchez of Cuba, followed by Arslanbek Makhmudov of Russia.
Although there is no definite plan, the counter-heavy heavyweight is training hard. He recently released a clip from the gym showing a quick combo culminating in a sharp left hook. Who will end up landing has yet to be determined.
