Andrews Government slams Channel 10 program Hunted for ‘failing to get a permit’ to film on Metro

The Andrews Government has criticized the creators of Channel 10’s new reality show Hunted for ‘not applying for a permit’ before filming inside Victoria’s Metro rail network.

Produced by Endemol Shine, Hunted follows 18 contestants on a run as they try to avoid being caught by a group of former intelligence and police officers.

Hunted, which was filmed in Victoria earlier this year, includes some scenes shot at Flinders Street station and inside public carriages.

The production was supported by government travel agency Visit Victoria, who touted the show as a unique way to attract interstate travelers in the wake of the pandemic.

However, this week, the government itself also publicly criticized manufacturers for not complying with red tape regulations.

Speaking to The Herald Sun, a spokesperson for Victoria Metro confirmed Endemol Shine ‘did not apply for a permit before filming’ on the rail network.

Metro’s website states that applicants must receive ‘express permission from Metro Trains Melbourne prior to arriving at a Metro facility to film and take photographs’.

“This is unacceptable as Metro has strict rules for filming that should have been followed to ensure the safety of staff and passengers,” a spokesperson said.

‘We have written to the relevant production company to remind them of their obligation to obtain a permit prior to filming.’
