Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff was rushed to the hospital after an accident while filming an episode of Top Gear.
In a statement, a BBC spokesman said: “Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning – medical crews were on the scene immediately.
“He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.”
According to The Sun, the 45-year-old former British cricketer is filming an episode for the series at Dunsfold Park Airport in Surrey.
The newspaper said he was behind the wheel at the time and paramedics rushed to help before he was taken to hospital.
A source told the paper that Flintoff was “driving on the track as usual” and was not traveling at high speed.
They added that his injuries were “not life-threatening” and that he was being treated.
Flintoff debuted as host of Top Gear in 2019, alongside Chris Harris.
He said at the time: “You don’t always get the chance to do both of your dream jobs, but now I’m lucky enough to say I will. I’ve always been passionate about cars and I Very excited to be joining the Top Gear team.”
The Sun reported that Harris, who presented the show with Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness, was also at the Top Gear test track at the time of the incident.
Flintoff has enjoyed a hugely successful international career, most notably helping England win their first Ashes win in 18 years in 2005, before helping his team reclaim the pot four years later.
The father-of-four took a break from Test cricket at the end of the Ashes series in 2009 and other forms of the game in 2010.
He then had a professional boxing match on 30 November 2012 in Manchester, where he defeated American Richard Dawson by decisive point.
