Following the review, the Academy released a statement on behalf of chief executive Bill Kramer, saying the “social media and outreach advocacy tactics” the film used had “caused concern.” “.

“The Academy has determined that the activity in question has not increased to such an extent that the film’s nomination was rescinded.
“However, we have discovered disturbing social media and outreach advocacy tactics. These tactics are being addressed directly with the responsible parties.”

Riseborough’s performance in To Leslie was critically acclaimed, but before the Oscars, she was not nominated for any major awards.
In the film, she plays an alcoholic single mother after winning the lottery, before changing her life when she is offered a job by an innkeeper.

Kramer’s statement on Tuesday continued: “The purpose of the Academy’s campaign regulations is to ensure a fair and ethical awarding process – these are the core values of the Academy. forest.

“These changes will be implemented after this award cycle and will be shared with our members.
