Andhra Pradesh Official Aramane Giridhar Becomes New Defense Minister

Road Transport and Highways Minister Aramane Giridhar has been appointed as the new Defense Minister as part of the top-level bureaucratic reshuffle carried out by the Center on Wednesday.

Aramane Giridhar, a 1988 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Andhra Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as a Special Operations Officer in the Ministry of Defense.

He will assume the post of Defense Minister after Ajay Kumar’s retirement on October 31, 2022, an order from the Ministry of Personnel said.

Alka Upadhyaya, president of the National Highways Authority of India, will be the new Transport and Roads Minister in place of Giridhar.

Financial Services Minister Sanjay Malhotra will be the new Revenue Secretary.

He has been appointed as the Special Operations Officer at the Department of Revenue.

This officer will assume the position of Revenue Minister after Tarun Bajaj’s term ends on 30 November 2022.

Vivek Joshi, Registrar of India and Census Commissioner, Department of Home Affairs will be the new Secretary, Department of Financial Services in place of Malhotra.

Mritunjay Kumar Narayan, Additional Secretary of the Home Office, will be the new Registrar of India and Census Commissioner in place of Joshi.

As many as 16 secretaries were appointed in various central government agencies in Wednesday’s reshuffle.

Rural Development Minister Nagendra Nath Sinha has been appointed as the new Steel Minister.

Nagendra Nath Sinha has been appointed as a Special Officer of the Ministry of Steel with effect from 1 December 2022. He will assume the position of Secretary of the Ministry of Steel, upon the retirement of Sanjay Kumar Singh on 31 December 2020. 2022.

Shailesh Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, will be the new Rural Development Secretary from 1 December.

Shailesh Kumar Singh has been appointed OSD at the Department of Rural Development, Ministry of Rural Development, according to the order.

Amrit Lal Meena, currently Special Secretary (Logistics), Department of Industry Promotion & Internal Trade, will be the new Coal Secretary.

Amrit Lal Meena, who has been appointed OSD in the Ministry of Coal, will take over as Secretary after Anil Kumar Jain retires on October 31.

Sudhansh Pant, an IAS officer of the 1991 batch of Rajasthan staff, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways.

Mr. Pant, who has been appointed as OAS in the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, will assume the post of Secretary after the incumbent super-leader Sanjeev Ranjan on January 31, 2023.

Kamran Rizvi, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, will be the Secretary of Heavy Industry.

Kamran Rizvi has been appointed as the Special Officer of the Ministry of Heavy Industry and he will take over the post of secretary upon the resignation of Arun Goel on December 31.

Rachna Shah, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, has been appointed as the new Secretary for Textiles.

Rachna Shah, who has been appointed OSD in the Ministry of Textiles, will take over as secretary after incumbent Upendra Prasad Singh retires at the end of this month.

Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, who is currently the Chairman of the New Delhi City Council (NDMC), will be the New and Renewable Energy Minister.

Mr. Bhalla, who has been appointed as OSD in the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, will take over as secretary after the incumbent Indu Shekhar Chaturvedi completes his term at the end of this month.

Youth Affairs Secretary Sanjay Kumar will be the new Secretary of the Ministry of Education and School Literature. He will take over the new position after incumbent Anita Karwal retires on November 30.

Meeta R Lochan, Secretary of the National Commission on Women, will be the new Youth Affairs Secretary.

Sanjeev Chopra, a 1990 IAS officer of the Odisha staff, was appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution.

He will replace Sudhanshu Pandey, who will retire at the end of this month.

Manoj Govil, a 1991 IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
