Ana de Armas says Marilyn Monroe’s ghost was on set during filming of Blonde: ‘She was with me’

Ana de Armas has claimed the spirit of the late Marilyn Monroe as a spin-off on the set of Blonde, in which she serves as the classic movie icon.

The 34-year-old actress was only two years younger than the Seven Year Itch star when she died of a drug overdose in 1962.

During a press conference on Thursday at the Venice Film Festival, Ana told reporters she felt Marilyn’s presence during the filming of the fictional footage of her life, emphasizing that her spirit would let them know if she is happy or unhappy with the way things are going, according to Reuters.

‘She was everything I thought about, she was everything I dreamed of. She is all I can talk about. She was with me,’ Ana insists. ‘And it was beautiful. I think she was happy. ‘

‘I really believe she’s very close to us. She’s been with us,” she continued, “She’ll also throw things at the wall and get mad sometimes if she doesn’t like something. This may sound very mystical, ‘the Knives Out actor admits,’ but it’s true. We all feel it. ‘

Director Andrew Dominik decided to start filming the project on August 4, the death anniversary of the silver screen legend.

Scenes were also filmed in the apartment Norma Jeane Baker once shared with her mentally ill mother and in the room where Marilyn died.

The director asserts: “It certainly has elements that look like a tribute.

The film is not a traditional face-based biopic, but is instead based on the novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates.

It not only details Marilyn’s career but also tells of her relationships with men, including her three husbands and President John F. Kennedy.

Ana, who was born in Cuba and speaks with a perfect accent, hired a voice coach to help her with Californian native speaking.

Despite the cultural differences, the director said he knew Ana was the right person for the role after seeing her in the dark horror film Knock Knock.

‘I knew it was her as soon as I saw her on TV. It’s like when you fall in love at first sight, when the right person walks through the door you know it,’ he said.

Variety called Ana’s performance one of ‘spectacular shimmer and imagination, both shimmering and heartbreaking.’

Brad Pitt is the producer of this project. Julianne Nicholson and Adrian Brody star in the film, which premieres on Netflix on September 16.
