Mercedes-AMG on Thursday unveiled another “Edition 55” model AMG’s 55th Anniversarythis time based on CBA. 2023 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 Edition 55 arrives in the US later this year, with a limited production run of just 55 units.
Changes to this limited edition start with the AMG Aerodynamics package that adds a larger front splitter, additional spoilers, a new rear spoiler and new rear spoilers. Finished in glossy black, these additions improve driving characteristics at high speeds, Mercedes claims.

Other styling elements include black chrome exhaust pipes, grille badging and trim, special 19-inch wheels and silver chrome fuel tank caps. The only color available is Cosmos Black Metallic, with a silver side graphic displaying the AMG logo.
The interior is wrapped in red-black two-tone nappa leather, a microfiber-wrapped steering wheel with “Edition 55” lettering and black 12-hour markers, door sills with illuminated AMG logos and brushed aluminum trim. A car cover is also included.
No mechanical changes were mentioned, but the AMG CLA45 already boasts a powerful 2.0-liter turbo-4 that produces 382 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Power is transmitted to all four wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Mercedes quotes a 4.0-second 0-60 mph time, while top speed is electronically limited to 155 mph.

The AMG CLA45 is the second model to receive the 55 version. Mercedes has announced a AMG G63 Edition 55 in April, also limited to 55 pieces for the US
Both special editions celebrate AMG .’s 1967 debut as an independent company. While AMG specializes in tuning and racing Mercedes cars, the real partnership between the two companies didn’t begin until 1990. AMG became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mercedes in 2005.
Since then, AMG has had to change over time. Performance parts included hybrid and all-electric powertrain as part of Mercedes’ electrification strategy. In 2019, Mercedes also announced a number of AMG . models will be built in China for the local market, breaking with the tradition of building AMG vehicles exclusively in Affalterbach, Germany.
