America could face its own gas crisis, or worse than Europe’s
The summer heat in America isn’t over yet, but let’s watch in the country natural gas reserves is a chilling reminder of the possible price spikes in winter — and even more peril for Europe.
U.S. natural gas reserves increased by 61 billion cubic feet for the week ending August 26, according to data released Thursday morning by the Energy Information Administration. That leaves stocks 11.3% below the five-year average — a gap that has widened during the so-called spray season, when natural gas inventories rise before winter.
