AMD unveils 5nm Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors: Here’s everything you need to know


AMD unveiled a bunch of new desktop CPUs – Ryzen 7000 series – marked on TSMC5nm’s process node. The new series of CPUs are based on the company’s newly introduced “Zen4” architecture. The chain consists of four SKUs – Ryzen 5 7600X, Ryzen 7 7700X, Ryzen 9 7900X and Ryzen 9 7950X.

Compared to the previous generation, the AMD Ryzen 7950X processor delivers a 29% improvement in single-core performance. The new CPUs offer up to 15% improved gaming performance and up to 27% better performance-per-watt.
The Ryzen 7000 series is the world’s first high-performance 5nm x86 CPU. The flagship 16-core Ryzen 9 7950X CPU promises to be up to 47% more power efficient than the competition. AMD says it has incorporated new power management technologies from its mobile processors to improve the power efficiency of the Ryzen 7000 desktop series.
The Ryzen 5 7600X claims to deliver 5% faster gaming performance than the competition’s best gaming CPUs; however, benefits may apply with some selected titles.
The Ryzen 7000 series features a new 6nm I/O die, enabling hardware-accelerated video encoding/decoding and multi-monitor support.
With the new Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, AMD brings a new socket AM5 platform. The new platform offers support for dual-channel DDR5 memory and up to 24 PCIe 5.0 lanes. AMD will continue to support the socket AM5 platform until 2025.
AMD said that Zen 4 The architecture offers a 13% IPC boost over Zen 3, with the peak boost frequency currently being 5.7GHz, 800MHz higher than the fastest we’ve seen with Zen 3-based CPUs. The new Ryzen 7000 series desktops based on Zen 4 increase single-core performance by up to 29%.
AMD Expo, the red team will participate IntelXMP’s, enables one-click overclocking using pre-configured profiles for DDR5 memory. When optimized for high performance gaming, the red team claims up to 11% improvement in F1 2022.

The Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors will be available through major retailers starting September 27 for $299 (Rs. 23,890). The new AM5 platform motherboards will cost $125 (Rs. 9,987).
