Amazon released this device last year and we gave it a score of 78 . We got to admire the large, bright screen and the design of the picture frames. We find the widgets (including widgets for headers, weather, calendar, sticky notes, recipe suggestions, and package delivery tracking) to be very handy. However, the camera and sound quality are lacking. While the Echo Show 15 is designed to be wall-mounted, Amazon’s decision to sell the desktop stands separately instead of packing a stand as standard is also a disappointment.
Since this is an Amazon smart display, you can of course use it to control compatible smart home devices. The Echo Show 15 supports a variety of video and audio streaming services, and it can link with compatible Echo speakers for richer sound. You can also use the display to display photos from Amazon Photos or Facebook.
Meanwhile, family members can have their own profiles. They can use voice ID and the intuitive ID facial recognition system to access personalized content like reminders, appointments, and music they’ve recently listened to.
Elsewhere, the Echo Show 5 is on sale as well. It is present , $45 off the standard price. As the name suggests, this is a model with a much smaller screen than the Echo Show 15 (5.5 inches, versus 15.6 inches), perhaps making it suitable for nightstands. So it supports an Alexa process that can gradually turn on connected smart lights and play music or news to help you start your day.
