Amazon’s Comixology Integration Includes Some Headaches
Amazon has shared more details on how it will Comixology integration to its other services. The internet giant has posted The updated FAQ explains the key parts of the transition, including some timelines. Most notably, Comixology will no longer be taking pre-orders for comics released on February 17 or later – you’ll have to cancel them and order them again through Amazon. In that sense, the transition is clearly underway.
The prologue also makes it clear that subscriptions to the series will only be available through Amazon and that “a small number” of the series will be discontinued. You will be told if a favorite cannot make the conversion. Amazon also offers the usual tips, such as preparing for the new Comixology app (in short: merging your accounts) and shopping in Amazon’s comic-focused section. As Amazon previously said, the existing Comixology app and online store will be phased out once the new portal arrives.
The timing in the FAQ aligns with Amazon’s (delayed) early 2022 integration goal. The comixology you used to know will be gone in no time, whether you like it or not. The main issue is whether the name will last much longer.
