Amazon, TVS join hands to use electric cars for delivery
The deal is part of Amazon India’s plan to include 10,000 EVs in its delivery fleet by 2025.
Amazon and TVS Automotive have signed an agreement to introduce electric two- and three-wheelers produced by TVS into Amazon’s delivery fleet. The electric two-wheeler in question will be the iQube electric scooter, and this is an interesting choice, as it does not have a removable battery that can be quickly replaced.
Furthermore, only iQube’s flagship ST variant offers a fast charging option (1.5kW) and this version has yet to be officially launched. The mid-range S variant currently on sale is compatible with 650W and 950W portable chargers, promising 4.5 hours and 3 hours respectively. This translates into a huge amount of downtime in the last mile delivery app. In addition to delivery apps, the two companies will also examine electric vehicle use cases for various Amazon business groups against its logistics and network requirements.
The deal is a step towards Amazon India’s plan to add 10,000 EVs to its fleet by 2025 and is also part of a larger global plan for Amazon to deploy 100,000 EVs worldwide by 2020. 2030.
