It seems to be streaming device season, when Amazon gets involved Google And Roku in launching a new product. Amazon made a surprise introduction Fire TV Stick HD to simplify the offering of Fire TV streaming devices, replacing both the Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite.

Although Amazon hasn’t officially announced it, the new Fire TV Stick HD is available to purchase as a new device for $35. It delivers much of the same experience you’d expect from a Fire TV device, plugging into your TV as a dongle and giving it smart capabilities.

Like previous Lite and base models, the new Fire TV Stick HD supports 1080p resolution. While this may not seem like enough in the age of 4K TVs, it’s the perfect way to upgrade smaller or older TVs with HD resolution that may not have smart features.

Unlike the previous Lite version, the new Fire TV Stick HD features TV and voice control. The remote supports voice control through Alexa and buttons to control your TV’s power and volume.

But can you spot the difference? While the Fire TV Stick HD looks pretty similar to the previous Fire TV Stick, its Alexa Voice Remote looks a little different. Compared to the existing Alexa Voice Remote in the Fire TV Stick 4K and 4K Max, the new Fire Stick’s remote has more rounded edges and looks thinner.

“The new entry-level stick in the Fire TV Stick line now features Alexa Voice Remote, which means customers can use one remote for instant control,” an Amazon representative told ZDNET. circuit their entire TV experience across soundbars and receivers.” “Fire TV Stick HD delivers all the power and intelligence of the Fire TV and Alexa experience — plus more than 1.5 million movies and TV episodes. Now, with Fire TV Stick HD, customers will have the simpler option of choosing a compact HD streaming device that’s neatly hidden behind the TV.”

This launch is a nice way for Amazon to round out its Fire TV streaming device line, combining two entry-level streaming sticks into one. Amazon now offers four streaming devices instead of five: the new one Fire TV Stick HD, Fire TV Stick 4K, Fire TV Stick 4K MaxAnd Fire TV block.
