Almost 30 pregnant sheep killed in one of ‘worst livestock attacks’ in Kent | UK News

Police in Kent say more than two dozen pregnant sheep have died after “possibly the worst cattle attack we’ve ever had”.

27 ewes, some carrying twins or triplets, were attacked between Christmas Eve and 1pm Boxing Day.

A Kent Police spokesman said they believe the attack was carried out by one dog but “cannot be ruled out” that multiple other dogs were involved.

Police Chief Marc Pennicott of Kent Police’s rural task force said: “This is a heartbreaking incident that could well be the worst cattle attack we’ve ever experienced.

“Not only did the farmer suffer financial losses from this incident, but the animals also lost their lives.

“These dogs will get covered in mud and come home exhausted and we are committed to identifying their owners.

“The rest of the livestock are also very vulnerable, so it is extremely important that we find out who is responsible for these dogs as quickly as possible.”

Police said the attack took place in a field in Teynham, near Sitbourne, and dogs were heard barking in the area between 4pm and 5pm on Christmas Day.
