Allyson, 36 years old, announced her retirement ahead of the 2024 Olympics in Paris, running the last race in the city where she grew up on Sunday, August 7. “My dream scenario is to run on the streets, my hometown. I think it’s going to be the best thing ever,” Felix told her partners at Athleta at the time. “So many friends and family, they’ve never been able to see me run in person. You know, there’s no meeting here anymore. I thought this was the perfect moment to celebrate. As the most decorated sprinter in US history, the mother-of-one briefly postponed her retirement after coaches asked her to return to the world championships to race. in the women’s 4×400 preliminary round in July.

“I think it hasn’t completely affected me yet. But I just really enjoy spending time with my family a little more,” Allyson told HL after his last run. “Eat some of my favorite things that I haven’t been able to eat yet, and recover from all that. It’s really cool, but you know, a lot of stuff on the horizon as well!

The sprinter admitted that she “knows” it’s time to retire because she “feels fulfilled” in her career. “I feel like I can do a lot of things that I want to do, accomplish a lot of goals and this past season, for the first time, I really felt that I wasn’t sure what more I could give. . ‘ she explained. I wanted to do, and I felt it was time to give up and move towards those things.”
