Dhamtari:

An employee of the Dhamtari civil service in Chhattisgarh has been suspended and cause notices have been issued to four officials after all ten heads of the Ravan effigy remained unburnt during Dussehra celebrations in Dhamtari.

Images of the effigy burning event held on October 5 at Ramleela Maidan in Dhamtari show the demon king’s head still intact, while the body has turned to ashes.

Dussehra or Vijayadashami marks the end of the annual Durga Puja festival, in which effigys of Ravana are burned across the country to symbolize the victory of good over evil.

In Dhamtari, the Ravan effigy burning event is organized by the local citizenship agency.

Following the Dussehra celebrations, the Dhamtari Municipal Corporation (DMC) ordered the suspension of Rajendra Yadav employee for alleged negligence in the making of the Ravan effigy.

The order states that Mr. Yadav, the 3rd grade assistant, committed a serious negligence in creating a Ravan effigy for Dussehra 2022 celebrations that misrepresented the image of the DMC.

Rajesh Padamwar, DMC’s executive engineer, said that after Mr Yadav was suspended, another employee, Samarth Ransingh, was charged.

In addition, four officials – assistant engineer Vijay Mehra and sub-engineers Lomas Dewangan, Kamlesh Thakur and Kamta Nagendra – have been notified of the cause by DMC and have sought their answers regarding the connection. this, he said.

Padamwar is currently handling the responsibilities as head of the civil service as DMC commissioner Vinay Kumar Poyam is on leave.

Dhamtari Mayor Vijay Devangan said action had been taken against those charged with creating the dummy and that payment for the work would now be withheld.

According to consortium officials, the artisans involved in creating the effigy are believed to have set it up on the ground prior to the function.

Ten of the dummy’s heads have not yet burned, which indicates it was not made properly, they said.
