Alexis Rocha and Blair Cobbs

Via Mark Eisner: Tonight in the main event, heavyweight contender Alexis Rocha will face off against evil self-promoter Blair Cobbs in a 10 round on DAZN. The battle pass begins at 9:00 p.m. ET. 6:00 p.m. PT.

Rocha-Cobbs was booked for Vergil Ortiz Jr-Michael McKinson, but undefeated 23-year-old Ortiz Jr had to withdraw due to medical problems.

Boxing News 24 will give the results and live updates of the Cobbs (15-0-1, 10 KO) vs Rocha (18-1, 12 KO) match below:

  • Young middle class Alex Rincon (10-0.7 KO) defeated Luis Sanchez (9-3, 6 KOs) by second round knockout. In the second round, 26-year-old nampaw Rincon knocked out Sanchez twice. Referee Rudy Barragan stopped the match at 1:44 of the second half
  • Outstanding Strong Potential Customers John Ramirez (9-0.7 KO) dominant laner Roberto Pucheta (10-21-3, 6 KOs), won by unanimous decision 6 rounds unchanged. The scores are 60-54, 60-54 and 60-54.
  • Light weight can’t be beaten Alejandro Reyes (7-0.4 KO) beat 31-year-old veteran Daniel Evangelista Jr. (20-13-2, 16 KOs) by unanimous decision six rounds. 50-51, 60-51, 60-51 Evangelista was penalized a point in the second half for a rabbit punch to the back of the head of 22-year-old Reyes. In the fourth inning, the referee deducted another point from Evangelista for twisting Reyes’ arm.

Without any great picks for the top spot, the fight between Rocha and Cobbs was moved to that spot. The fight will take place at the USC Galen Center in Los Angles, California.

One fight that could steal the show from the main event is the main support match between talented weight class contender Michael McKinson (21-0, 2 KOs) and Alex Martin (17-3, 6 KOs).

WBO McKinson No. 4 undefeated was scheduled to face Vergil Ortiz Jr. during the main event, but after becoming ill, it left Brit without a match.

Instead of the Golden Boy Promotions pairing McKinson with Cobbs or Rocha, they relegated him to primary support against second-place boxer Alex Martin.

Obviously, Golden Boy let Rocha-Cobbs fight on contract, so they can’t switch one of them to bottom, but it would be a good move.

McKinson is arguably more talented than Cobbs and Rocha and has more future than either of them. Cobbs is a talkative, but lacks talent, and is 32 years old.

The main reason the Rocha-Cobbs match caught the attention of the boxing world was the outlandish comments Cobbs made in the construction of his match.

Cobbs was named, capturing Errol Spence Jr and Vergil Ortiz, while boasting of his talents. When you take a close look at Cobbs’ background, it’s easy to see that he hasn’t been noticeably defeated, and has been compared entirely to the second-tier opposition.

Cobbs surprised when he recently shot Jaron ‘Boots’ Ennis, saying he wanted to fight him.

Cobbs told True School Sports of Boots Ennis: “People like that have been babysitting and have never been tested, this game has different levels.

What’s even more disturbing is that Cobbs knocked out and badly injured Carlos Ortiz Cervantes (12-5) in their recent game.

Watching Cobbs wrestle with a junior boxer like Cervantes shows that he is not good enough to compete for the world-class spot, even when up against junior contenders like Daniyar Yeleussinov and Josesito Lopez .

Cobbs tends to move around a lot, throw a weak jab, and then suddenly, he’s attacking his opponent, hurling nonstop hits.

When Cobbs is in this form, he gets hit a lot and is prone to counterattacks. That’s how Cobbs was wounded by the ham and egg boxer Cervantes.

Cobbs recklessly attacked Cervantes and was counted by a large right hand, and laid down on the canvas.

“He was athletic and explosive,” said Shawn Porter above Porter Way Podcast about Blair Cobbs. “He’s the kind of man who will throw a punch at you that you don’t expect and watch out for. So he’s that kind of man.”
