Air India Fined 10 Lakh For Not Reporting 2nd Peeing Incident On Flight
New Delhi:
Air India was fined Rs 10 lakh by aviation regulator DGCA for failing to report the incident last month when a man allegedly peed on the blanket on a woman’s empty seat on a Paris-Delhi flight.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation, or DGCA, said the Tata-run airline was late in referring the December 6 incident to its internal committee.
This is the second incident of a man urinating in the passenger seat on an Air India flight, after another man allegedly peed on a female companion on a New York-Delhi flight on November 26
Air India did not report the incidents to the aviation regulator before they appeared in the media.
The DGCA was only notified of the December 6 incident after asking for details from Air India.
Air India “did not report the incident until the DGCA sought its case report on May 1, 2023,” the DGCA said in a statement.
The airline’s response made it clear that it was not following “the provisions regarding the handling of unruly passengers under the DGCA,” the statement said.
