Air India Express Flight To Kozhikode Returns To Abu Dhabi As Flames Seen In Engine Mid-Air

An Air India Express flight to Kozhikode from Abu Dhabi landed back at the airport when flames were discovered in one of the engines shortly after takeoff, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation said on Friday.

Air India Express said the plane landed safely and all passengers were safe.

According to the DGCA, there were 184 passengers on board when the flight took off.

“Shortly after takeoff and climbing to an altitude of 1,000 feet, the pilot noticed a fire in one of the engines and decided to return to Abu Dhabi airport,” Air India Express told ANI.

The DGCA said Air India Express flight B737-800 returned to Abu Dhabi airport due to a fire that caught fire in mid-air.

“Today, an Air India Express VT-AYC B737-800 operating flight IX 348 (Abu Dhabi-Calicut) engaged in Airturnback due to engine #1 catching fire at 1,000 ft while climbing. up,” said the DGCA.

23, an Air India Express flight from Trivandrum to Muscat had to land 45 minutes after take-off due to technical problems, officials said.

“The flight took off from Trivandrum at 8:30am and landed again at 9:17am,” they added.

In December 2022, a snake was found on an Air India Express flight to Dubai.

Air India Express Boeing B-737 flight from Calicut to Dubai took off as scheduled and upon landing at Dubai airport, staff reported a snake on board.

The aviation regulator has ordered a detailed investigation into the incident.
