An aide to Republican Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky is recovering from assault in Washington, DC
“Last weekend, an employee of mine was brutally attacked in broad daylight in Washington, DC,” Paul said in a statement. Paul said a suspect has been arrested, and asked for prayers for the aide’s speedy and complete recovery.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the officer was stabbed multiple times and his injuries were life-threatening.
He declined to name the aide, instead asking for privacy so “everyone can focus on healing and recovery.”
The incident comes after Congress moved earlier this year to repeal a new penal code – the product of a multi-stakeholder review of the criminal justice system. – for the Washington, DC area.
