Agnipath scheme: Supreme Court transfers pending PILs to Delhi high court | India News

NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Monday referred several petitions challenging the government’s Agnipath plan to the Delhi high court.
The highest court has gathered the pending PILs against the recently introduced scheme and sent it to the Delhi high court for an early decision.
“We must take a considered view of a high court. HC jurisdiction under Article 226 of the Constitution must not lose its meaning,” the SC said during its hearing.
After turning over three PILs pending before the top court challenged the Agnipath plan for Delhi HC, the court said other high courts where multiple PILs are pending will make a choice for those sue to transfer their PIL to the Delhi high court or to the high court. the court as an intercessor.
A Judge’s Bench DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and AS Bopanna also said that if any PIL is filed under the challenging Agnipath program in the future, they will also be given the same choice by the relevant high courts.
The Agnipath plan is for recruitment and was announced by the Center on June 14.
