After Maruti, Toyota recalls 1,400 units of Glanza and Urban Cruiser Hyryder over possible airbag defect
The two recalled Toyota vehicles are actually shared with Maruti Suzuki, which has announced a recall of the Alto K10, S-Presso, Eeco, Baleno, Brezza and Grand Vitara. The suspected faulty part is the airbag assembly controller, which can lead to the airbag not deploying in the event of a collision. Vehicles affected by the recall will be inspected and if found to be defective, they will be replaced free of charge.

While the Toyota Glanza is an upgraded version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder shares most of its platform with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara – with all four vehicles included in this recall. Toyota dealers will contact owners of affected vehicles for the recall, while customers can also contact a company representative themselves.
While only 1,390 Toyota vehicles are included in the latest recall, the Maruti Suzuki recall is significant, affecting more than 17,000 vehicles manufactured during this time period. Both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota issued another recall in December 2022 involving faulty front seat belt height adjusters, including the Urban Cruiser Hyryder SUV.
