After Aaftab ‘confession’ in lie test, cops to follow up with narco analysis today | India News


NEW DELHI: During a lie test at a forensic lab in Rohini northwest of Delhi, Aaftab Poonawala allegedly confessed to killing his life partner Shraddha Walkar and dismembering her. Armed with the findings of a polygraph test, forensics officials will conduct a drug analysis at a hospital on Thursday.
Sources in the Forensic Science Laboratory, Rohini, say that Aaftab had told experts that he had murdered Shraddha and had emptied her body for a while. However, he failed to pinpoint the exact places where he threw her body pieces.

“We were told not to feed him after 10pm on Wednesday,” a prison official said. “Drug analysis can only be done on an empty stomach.” Tihar Prison sources added that Aaftab will leave the prison complex early on Thursday to go to the hospital at 9am. The investigative team rehearsed the process with forensic officials and doctors on Wednesday and has prepared a new questionnaire based on the results of the polygraph.
“There were some questions that we found him hesitant to answer in the lie test. Those questions will be repeated during drug investigation sessions,” a police source said.
The special investigation team has now recorded the testimony of the woman who was given a ring by Aaftab that belonged to Shraddha. The woman, a psychologist, began interacting with Aaftab in late May through a dating app. She visited the Chhatarpur apartment, where the alleged murder took place, twice in October.
In her statement to police, the woman said Aaftab appeared normal and happy when they met at his apartment. The woman’s testimony was recorded in accordance with Section 161 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the examination of witnesses by the police.
The woman told police she was shocked to learn she had been in the house where Shraddha’s body parts were hidden in the refrigerator. Other women have also visited the defendant’s residence or contacted him after the murder is being prosecuted. One source said he spoke to about a dozen women.
In her statement, the woman told police that they met on May 30 and kept in touch for about a month but did not interact or speak again after that. A police insider said: “The woman revealed that Aaftab had some perfume and deodorant in the house and also gave her a bottle. She said he smoked constantly wearing it. even though he said he wanted to quit.” The woman added that Aaftab had talked about coming to Mumbai in September and often talked about his house in Mumbai.
Also, the woman said that Aaftab was a foodie and had ordered food from many places. He also told her about his experiences visiting different restaurants and his love of decorating his food in an aesthetically pleasing way.
