Advance Wars spiritual successor sequel has a demo

I somehow missed the news two weeks ago that battlefield 2 are on the way. The true successor to the spiritual successor of Advance Wars, Wargroove 2 is another 2D turn-based strategy game, but with new factions, a new roguelike mode, and a new co-developer.

There’s also a demo to play right now, though only until the weekend.

Conquest mode demo is now available from steam. Conquest mode is a “rogue single-player-like experience” that involves quick, short battles. Gold and health will continue between battles and you will need to keep the units alive if you want to pass the missions later.

The demo also lets you play as Nadia, the Commander of a new faction, Saffron Island Rebels and end with a boss fight, if you can get that far. This is being offered to coincide with Wargroove 2’s appearance at PAX East and disappears when the show ends on March 26.

When the full game launches, Wargroove 2 will feature a total of six factions, three campaigns, and co-op and multiplayer modes. This time it was co-developed by Chucklefish, the makers of the first Wargroove, and Robotality, the developers of their own turn-based strategy, ’em up Halfway and Pathway.

Brendan sees the original as a worthy successor to its obvious influences in his work. Wargroove Reviews, though he is concerned about its difficulty and its potential to consume hours of your time with minor annoyances. I guess you could try the demo to see if it’s easier to skip the combat animation.
