Actor Euphoria Angus Cloud reveals 10-foot Oakland construction pitfall that resulted in a scar on his head

Euphoria star Angus Cloud has shared about the injury that led to the scar on his head.

The 24-year-old actor, speaking to Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood, detailed the incident that left him with a curved scar on the left side of his scalp.

Cloud said the incident happened in his hometown of Oakland in 2013, when he fell into a construction pit in the downtown area, as he walked down a dimly lit street.

“It’s true, I broke my skull on Friday the 13th,” said Cloud, who plays Fezco on the HBO series, adding that he “wake up 12 hours later at the bottom of a construction pit.” (There are two Fridays that land on the 13th in 2013, in September and December.)

Cloud said he was ‘stuck’ in the pit, but eventually ‘climbed out’ after an unspecified amount of time.

“It was very difficult to climb out, because my skull was broken, but my skin wasn’t, so all the blood was flowing inside, pressing on my brain,” Cloud said. ‘But they won’t find me down there. I have found myself. Or God found me, what do you want to call it. ‘

The actor says he was finally able to pull himself out of a hole he estimates to be 10 feet deep, dealing with internal bleeding near his skull, broken fingers and blurred vision.

Cloud said he didn’t feel any pain from the multiple injuries, as he was ‘in survival mode’ at the time.

Cloud said he got on a bus to his mother’s home, where he struggled to communicate what happened.

‘Because I’m a child!’ Cloud said. ‘I’m 14 or 15 years old. She thought I was on drugs, because my pupils were dilated. I was trying to tell her what had happened, but I could only start a sentence – I couldn’t finish it. So I was like, “I’m just going to sleep in my bed”… I’m going to die. ‘

His mother sensed danger and wouldn’t let him sleep, and after she gave him water, he ‘started spitting out mouthfuls of crimson blood.’

Cloud said his mother took him to a children’s hospital, where he had surgery for his injuries.

Cloud said he still has communication problems due to the accident, as his speech is 'probably a little slower' since then. He was photographed at an Oscar party in LA in March

Cloud said: ‘It’s the scar. They cut my head off, they put some screws and a plate on where I broke my skull and – sh**, sealed me up, and that was it. ‘

Noting that ‘the brain is fragile,’ Cloud said he was ‘morphine loaded’ during his five-day ICU stay before spending more time in the non-intensive care unit.

“It’s almost nothing really happening,” he said. ‘I was lucky to have only mild brain damage. You know, it’s so small, it’s not even really worth talking about. I did some physical therapy. And actually, some speech therapy, but that’s about it. In just a few weeks, because I said, “Ehh.”

“I mix the front of one word with the back of the next,” he says. ‘I would scribble two words together. Combine. ‘
