The son of Keen Ice wrap five jackets in 1:01.40 with regular exerciser Gabriel Lagunes on board. He ranked ninth fastest out of 19 working horses Wednesday.
“He worked very comfortably, I couldn’t be happier with the way he finished, which is what we wanted,” Reed said.
“We don’t want him to do such a sharp job because we’ll be back with him. I’m really pleased and the rider even more satisfied.”
Finally, the 3-year-old foal finished fourth in the Runhappy Travers Stakes (G1) on August 27 at Racecourse Saratoga.
His first showing back from Travers was recorded at Reed’s Mercury Horse Center on September 13, where the foal went 5 hairs in 1:02.40.
Since his Derby defeat, the foal has raced just one other time alongside Travers, finishing sixth in the June 11 Belmont Stakes match presented by the NYRA Bets (G1) at the NYRA Bets (G1). Belmont Park.
So far, the dark horse has earned $2,101,289 for RED-TR Racing owners. Jockey Sonny Leon has ridden seven of his 10 starts.
