ABL returns with Invitational Tournament next year

MANILA, Philippines – The Asean Basketball League is returning from a three-year hiatus with the 2023 Invitational Series starting in January.

The Invitational tournament, which begins January 2, 2023, will feature games across Southeast Asia. There are teams that have yet to be announced.

In the past, Philippine teams that have participated in the regional tournament are the AirAsia Philippine Patriots, San Miguel Beermen, Alab Pilipinas and Pilipinas MX3 Kings.

After the COVID-19 pandemic brought everything to a halt, the return of ABL is a big step in the right direction as we hope to give fans a sense of normalcy while we continue to recover from these difficult times. consequences of the pandemic,” said ABL CEO Kuhan Foo.

“We are delighted to welcome our teams, players and fans back to our efforts to further promote the growth of basketball throughout the region.”

The players and finals of the ABL Invitationals are scheduled for March, lasting three months.

Foo highlighted the ABL’s role in helping other countries in the region improve their basketball programs.

ABL abruptly ended its 10th season in July 2020 due to difficulty in staging an event amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
