Aaron Velez returns as Chery Tiggo head coach
MANILA, Philippines—Nine months since leaving as head coach for Chery Tiggo, Aaron Velez was officially welcomed back by the team on Monday.
Crossovers announced that they are inviting the championship coach to become the team’s main mentor for the upcoming return of the English Premier League Volleyball League in two weeks.
“The experienced coach will return to the helm and lead the Chery Tiggo Crossovers back to the top,” the team said in a statement.
Velez will replace Clarence Estebanwho took his place last April, for the coaching gig.
Unlike under Velez when Chery won PVL’s Open Conference in 2021, the team failed to win the championship under coach Esteban for a period of 9 months.
Crossovers finished eighth in the Open Conference this season while taking fourth place in the Reinforced Conference.
Velez will handle a recently refurbished team that has acquired the talents of Seth RodríguezPonggay Gaston and Bingle Landicho.
