Aaron Donald, Rams agree to redo the deal

Aaron Donald said he is ready to retire if he does not receive a new contract from the Los Angeles Rams. The team was forced on Monday with a reworked deal that would increase the three-time AP Defensive Player of the Year pay to continue playing.

Donald, 31, will receive $65 million fully guaranteed for the next two seasons and has the option to retire in 2024 or return with an additional $30 million guaranteed, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. The $95 million raised by Donald over the next three seasons put him ahead of Tyreek Hill, the Miami Dolphins’ wide-recorder for the title of highest unpaid quarterback in the NFL.

While the Rams did not disclose financial details of the deal, the team confirmed the news Monday that Donald will return for the 2022 season.
