Aaron Chalmers reveals newborn son Oakley has returned to hospital for ‘unexpected’ operation

Aaron Chalmers has revealed his newborn son Oakley is back in hospital for an ‘unexpected’ operation after being born with health issues last month.

The former Geordie Shore star, 35, took to Instagram on Saturday to share a snap of himself doting on the tot, who he shares with his girlfriend Talia Oatway.

He elaborated on the condition of the ‘little soldier’, revealing he had been having trouble breathing but is doing well now with the help of nasal tubes.

The influencer also addressed his followers in a video shared to his Story, where he thanked them for their well wishes from inside the hospital.

Aaron said: ‘Hi everyone, just wanna say thank you. The messages we’ve had have been unbelievable, just well wishing, just shows social media can be a positive thing after all.

‘Just thought I’d tell you I’m at the hospital, little man’s having a sleep. He’s had his cannula taken out, he’s still got all the tubes and the air and stuff in his nose so he’s in some pain bless him but he’s having a sleep and he’s with his mummy.

The Newcastle United fan added: ‘So, yeah, just sitting. We’re gonna try and get the match on, sit with him, listen to the match. Should be able to hear it out the window cos St James’ Park is right behind us.

‘Just wanna thank everyone for sending a message, literally it means everything and just shows social media can be a positive thing when it comes to picking people up. It’s been a tough few days for me and Talia and all the messages of support have picked us up when we needed it.

‘That’s one operation down. The long road has begun, it’s longer than we expected but the first one’s in. He’s breathing now fully by himself, he’s got some tubes up his nose to help with the breathing because the air was blocked so thank god Talia’s mothers instinct kicked in. She brought him up and said it’s a good job.

‘One down, god knows how many to go but I just came on to thank everyone for their support, the plan is now to get home and get him settled, go away for the weekend up to a log cabin somewhere, me Talia and the kids, so we can spend some family time together.’

Aaron recently revealed baby Oakley will be ‘in and out of surgery for 18-24 months’ following complications during his birth.

And after spending eight days watching over their newborn, the couple finally revealed their ‘have our little soldier home’ earlier this month.

Taking to Instagram, Aaron shared a snap of himself, Talia and their bundle of joy exited the hospital the day prior.

Meanwhile, Talia uploaded a snap of her holding her baby boy on Thursday as she prepared to leave the ward, before sharing that there was still ‘a long road ahead’ amid his health issues.

It comes after Aaron wrote an emotional message to his newborn son Oakley in a Sunday Instagram post, where he revealed the tot has caused him ‘nothing but worry’.

The TV personality gazed adoringly at the little one while wearing a cream T-shirt in a photo from hospital, where he and his girlfriend Talia have been staying since his birth.

Giving an update on his son’s health, Aaron explained: ‘Hi everyone I just thought I’d jump on here quickly to give a quick update, me and Talia are overwhelmed with all the messages of congratulations and stuff, I’ll explain in a proper story in a couple of days.

‘We’ve had another healthy boy, another healthy baby boy called Oakley, Oakley Chalmers, weighing six pounds one ounce, unfortunately there’s been a few issues with the baby.

The TV star went on: ‘We’re not ignoring people, we’re just letting things soak in, just taking everything like what the specialists are saying and stuff, it’s been a rollercoaster and two days.

‘The baby’s healthy, heart, lungs and all that stuff, but we’re just got loads of meeting specialists and just letting people know the plan for the next few months.’

Aaron later took to his Instagram stories again where he gave an update and thanked fans for their well wishes. 

He said: ‘I really appreciate all the messages after yesterday’s story. I cannot physically get back to everyone, I’m constantly running around. I’m going to stay at the hospital tonight with Talia and the baby, so I’m really looking forward to that.

Back in April, Aaron confirmed he and his girlfriend Talia Oatway were to welcome another baby – just weeks after reports claimed they were expecting. 

The professional fighter took to his Instagram account to confirm the good news. 

Uploading an adorable family snap for his 2.3 million followers he wrote: ‘ANOTHER BABY CHALMERS ON THE WAY. 

‘Can’t believe it we are having another baby! @memoriesbymel have made us the most gorgeous blanket to announce the news to the kids.

Aaron and Talia welcomed baby boy Maddox five and a half weeks early after an emergency C-section delivery last April.

‘Welcome to the world baby Maddox. He’s 5 and half weeks early but he’s a healthy 5.5lbs and Mam and baby doing amazing,’ Aaron wrote.

Premature: Aaron welcomed his second baby boy with Talia after she gave birth more than a month early by emergency C-section last April

‘Within the space of fifteen minutes they’ve rushed her [Talia] down to theatre because there was something wrong with the baby,  

‘The baby wasn’t moving, the heartbeat or something, so I literally rushed to hospital and as I was walking into the theatre and the baby was coming… I just got there for his birth.

‘Obviously, we didn’t know what [gender] we were having so the nurses held him up above the apron and it took us about a minute to realise it was a boy because my head was just all over the place.

‘Talias all good, the baby is amazing even though he’s early, but yeah, what a day. We’ve got two boys as well. 

‘Talias in the hospital now. I’ve just left her back there and I’m with the kids. She had to have an emergency C-section, which she didn’t want, but she did it because the baby needed to come out.  

‘He’s not a bad way 5.5lbs for being nearly six weeks early, so the doctors are happy. He’s just on antibiotics in case of infection.’
