Mr. Sisodia then accused LG of changing its position when the store opening documents reached him.

The deputy minister stated that that was not the case before and only needed LG’s approval.

Mr Sisodia claimed that the state government lost “thousands of rupees” when the decision was changed 48 hours before the shops opened.

He stated that about 300 to 350 stores could not open because the old LG changed their counters.

Requesting a CBI investigation into the change of mind, Mr. Sisodia questioned whether someone had put pressure on LG. “It should also be investigated whether LG previously made decisions under pressure and whether any Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders were involved in it,” he added.

Excise Tax Policy 2021-22, renewed twice after March 31, for two months each, will end on July 31.

The Department of Consumption is still working on the Excise Policy 2022-23, which recommends home delivery of alcohol in Delhi. The draft policy is said to have not yet been sent to Governor VK Saxena for his approval.

VK Saxena has requested a CBI investigation into alleged violations of erroneous rules and procedures in the implementation of the Excise Policy 2021-22, under which licenses are issued to private companies. to retail alcohol in the city is divided into 32 areas.

LG today also suspended 11 officials, including former Delhi tax commissioner Arav Gopi Krishna, for failing to implement an excise policy, PTI news agency reported citing sources.
