Aaditya Thackeray Meets Tejashwi Yadav In Patna

'Yeh Dosti...': Aaditya Thackeray meets Tejashwi Yadav in Patna

Patna:

A delegation from Team Uddhav Thackeray, led by his son and former Maharashtra Minister Aaditya Thackeray visited Patna today to meet Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his deputy Tejashwi Yadav.

The visit was seen as an icebreaker between the two young leaders – Mr. Thackeray and Mr. Yadav. Although they had some phone conversations, this was their first actual meeting.

Shiv Sena leader Aditya Thackeray said after meeting Patna-Nitish Kumar “Nitish ji and Tejashwi ji are doing very well,” Aaditya Thackeray told the media after their 30-minute meeting. “If all of us young leaders keep talking to each other, we will be able to do good for the country… This friendship will continue (Yeh dosti aage chalegi), both of us. will go a long way,” he added.

Tejashwi Yadav added: “It’s great that young people are involved in policy-making and decision-making. It’s a fun issue.”

The courtesy visit comes a few days before a key civil election in Mumbai and is expected to be a good opportunity for the Thackeray Team. A large number of voters for the civic polls in Mumbai and its suburbs are migrants from Bihar.

Despite Shiv Sena’s traditional views on land dating back to party founder Balasaheb Thackeray, the Uddhav Thackeray government has accumulated considerable goodwill in taking care of migrants during the Covid pandemic.

Good relations with Mr. Kumar and Tejashwi Yadav, who are also mass leaders in Bihar, are expected to add to that.

The Thackeray group is trying to retain control of the Brihanmumbai Group, the wealthiest civic body in the country. But the task will be challenging given the split within the party that unfolded in June and led to the fall of Uddhav Thackeray’s government.

In his address to reporters, Tejashwi Yadav today addressed the division, caused by the BJP-backed uprising of the incumbent Minister Eknath Shinde.

“The government was overthrown in Maharashtra due to the power of money. But we taught the BJP a lesson in Bihar,” he said. “Aditya and we young people will accompany everyone… Peace and progress in the country is our agenda,” he added.
