Aadhaar: UIDAI waives online Aadhaar update fee



People looking for their updates Aadhaar details online by uploading the necessary documents can do so without paying any fees for the next three months, the government said on Wednesday.
Residents will have to log in myAadhaar portal and follow the instructions to complete the process. The free service will be available from 15 March to 14 June 2023. However, those who choose to receive updated materials at actual Aadhaar centers will have to pay a fee. fee of Rs 50 as previously authorized, the Department of Electronics & IT said in a release.
Decisions of India’s Unique Identity Authority (UIDAI) is expected to benefit many residents, who can avail the facility with just one tap on their smartphone.
It will allow the demographic details of the residents to be reconfirmed, especially if the Aadhaar was issued to them a decade ago and has never been updated. This also helps to provide better service while improving the authentication success rate.
Nearly 1,200 government plans and programs, run by both central and state governments, are using Aadhaar-based identity to deliver services.
