Aadhaar can be used to provide 8 Delhi Government online services, not mandatory for everyone, UIDAI says


Aadhaar services can now be used for some Delhi government online services as the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has agreed with the Ministry of Industry in the union territory. Once approved by UIDAI, Aadhaar’s services can be used to avail eight online services, including free conversion, fee payment and refund claim. Aadhaar users who choose to use a 12-digit unique identifier for these services will be asked to consent to the use of details.

Delhi government’s industry ministry has now received UIDAIapproved for use Aadhaar details for eight online services, according to a PTI report. These include fee payments and returns, application for ownership and extension of construction period, among others.

Before using Aadhaar details, users will be asked for their voluntary consent. They will also be briefed on the process with details on how Aadhaar data will be used by the government.

Furthermore, government officials have ensured that it will not display the Aadhaar number anywhere nor store it in the Aadhaar datastore, providing complete security for any Aadhaar details. which user.

The announcement issued by the government also ensures that in the event of a failure of Aadhaar-based authentication, users will not be denied services or benefits.
