Law enforcement in Texas issued an arrest warrant for Kaitlin Marie Armstrongan Austin woman suspected of murdering cyclist Anna Moriah “Mo” Wilson earlier this month.

Wilson is a competitive gravel and mountain bike racer and arrived in Austin in early May for the Gravel Locos race, according to cycling website VeloNews.

She was pronounced dead on May 11 after the Austin Police Department answered a call from a woman who said she returned home to find her friend bleeding profusely and unconscious. Police said Wilson suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died. She is 25 years old.

The US police agency is currently assisting in the search for Armstrong, 35, who is suspected of killing Wilson.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by CNNboth Wilson and Armstrong were romantically involved with the same man, Colin Strickland, a professional cyclist.

Armstrong apparently contacted Wilson several times in the past and once told her to “stay away” from Stickland, the magazine reported. Wilson went swimming with Strickland the day she died.

In a statement shared by Austin Statesman and KVUE reporter Tony PlohetskiStrickland said he was “spinning” over Wilson’s death.

Strickland said: “There is no way to adequately express the remorse and torture I feel as I am about to commit this terrible crime. “I’m sorry, and I simply cannot understand this unfathomable tragedy.”

Strickland said that he and Wilson had a romantic relationship that lasted about a week in the fall. After that was over, he said he made peace with Armstrong and resumed his relationship with her.

The Wilson family also released a statement thanking everyone for their love and support, VeloNews reported.

The family said: “Although Moriah’s tragic loss is unforeseen, we would like everyone to join us in celebrating her life, achievements and love for each other. for others,” the family said. “Always working tirelessly to achieve her goals, we know she was after what she loved. We will miss her terribly and know that we all mourn her with them all. I.”

The cyclist’s family has also set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for “community organizations that help young people find confidence, strength, and joy through cycling, skiing, and activities” other that Moriah is passionate about.”

The US Police Department is asking anyone with information about Armstrong’s whereabouts to contact them.
