A brief word on how we include Black Friday deals this year

Good morning everybody. Black Friday 2022 is coming to us, and we’ll cover it a little differently than in years past – better, hopefully, though still in a way where an explanation might help. Basically, we will still highlight good hardware deals through Black Friday Center and the occasional indie post, but this time we’re teaming up with friends/colleagues/colleagues in our Player Network at Eurogamer and Digital foundry for load sharing.

Through several new distribution doodles installed in the backend of our respective websites, we will cross-post these hubs and resolve the highlights so that an article can be published. appear on multiple sites at the same time. What this basically means to you is that you can watch Black Friday content from non-RPS sources on the trading shelf of the RPS homepage, or you can click on the deal hub link on the RPS and referred to a Eurogamer paper. Likewise, my coverage here will also show up on other sites.

This video has nothing to do with Black Friday, but I’m keeping a keyboard in the thumbnail. Keyboards have Black Friday deals, right?

I hope that doesn’t sound too confusing – the plan for any non-RPS content appearing on our site is to limit it to a certain topic (Black Friday) and to a certain place (Offer price). Literally just a row of Deals posts already exist on the homepage – not in the Latest feed, social channels or anywhere else. We are not trying to spam you with any more affiliate links than usual or deface RPS by posting articles from our steady friends. But we think it makes for better, more useful, and ideally less misspelling coverage of Black Friday (sorry), because breaking up a collection of articles across the web for allowing us, the individual hardware writers, to focus more deeply on navigating specific areas of the Black Friday storm. For example, I can watch more closely gaming mouse deals while EG received graphics card deal mission, allowing me to spend more time searching, reviewing, and writing about offsite discounts.

Besides, most of what you’ll see will only come from me and Will Judd of DF, who handles most of our dealings as a freelancer anyway. And yes, only PC related content is made available to RPS; we’re not going to start highlighting Nintendo Switch cases or anything.

So that’s it! The only other thing I’ll say, before entering the e-commerce craze next week, is that I know we’re probably not living in the best economic conditions to splurge on computers. Everything is twice as expensive as it was in August, often for reasons ranging from simple nonsense to crimes against humanity, and no one needs a new SSD as much as they need to heat their home. Remember, then, that you’re only really saving money with a Black Friday sale when you’re buying something that you’re going to buy.
