A Brand New Profession Is Coming to Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake – PlayStation.Blog
If you’re an RPG fan, you probably need no introduction to Dragon Quest III. This RPG is one of those rare, precious games that captured the imagination of players, critics, and creators, and changed the genre. If you’ve ever played a Japanese RPG, you probably owe it to Dragon Quest III.
So it’s exciting to see the legendary game return with Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. The new game reimagines this classic adventure from the ground up, bringing the world and characters to life in the vibrant HD-2D visual style made famous by games like Octopath Traveler I and II and Live A Live.
But the Dragon Quest III HD-2D remake doesn’t just recreate the past, it builds on it. The game includes new features that make the game feel fresh, modern, and deeper.
We’re excited to reveal a few of these additional new features.
Customize new group
In Dragon Quest III HD-2D, you play as a young hero tasked with doing what your father couldn’t: defeating Archfiend Baramos. It’s not an easy task, but luckily you can get some help to help you.
You can assemble a party of up to four characters, including your hero, near the beginning of the game by going to Patty’s Party Planning Place. In the original game, you could simply choose their profession, which determines their role and skills in battle. However, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake gives you much more choices
For example, you can now change the look of them…
…with fourteen different hair colors to choose from.
You can also choose the character’s voice type – the character’s appearance won’t limit the type of voice you can create for them.
Combining different personalities, which influence your character’s strengths and weaknesses, allows you to create a group that you’re more likely to bond with – after all, they’re yours.
Friends forever
What if you create the perfect member for your party? When your adventure is over, will that daring rookie be lost forever?
Not available in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake! The new game allows you to register a volunteer so you can use them in another playthrough on the same account. They will even retain the attributes, level, and equipment they had when you registered them!
Meet the Monster Wrangler
Everyone in your party, including your main character, has a profession. This determines what spells and abilities they can learn, how their stats will increase, and what equipment they can use.
There are many professions in the game, including classics like Warrior and Mage, but this remake adds a brand new one: Monster Herder!
Dragon Quest III features some of the most charming and iconic enemies in gaming – even newcomers to the series will likely recognise the humble Slime, for example. Monster Wranglers know more about the monsters in the world than most, and will help you befriend any creature you find looking lonely.
They can also fight with a variety of monstrous abilities, from powerful attacks that hit multiple enemies at once, to helpful healing spells that can bring your party back from the brink.
Master the Monster Arena
As you play through the adventure, you may encounter monsters that are kinder than the ones you fight. They lurk throughout the world – in towns, dungeons, and even secret areas on the world map.
If you scout these monsters, you can use them in another new feature of this remake: the Monster Arena.
You can use a team of three monsters in various arenas around the world, pitting their fighting skills against other trainers. You can’t control the monsters directly, but you can set their tactics to influence how they act. Each league has its own ranking, so you’ll need a good team and a good strategy to overcome the harder challenges.
This is worth it as you will be rewarded with lots of gold and many other prizes!
Those are just a few of the new features in Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake. Of course, there’s plenty more to explore, including new voice acting, illustrations, and more. And of course, that HD-2D visual style makes it all look positively splendid.
