In the latest episode of ‘Enter the shade room, Trina And Towanda Braxton sit down for a candid chat about how their family has evolved two years after losing their beloved sister Traci to esophageal cancer. Plus, Trina and Towanda share how their family plans to carry on Traci’s legacy while talking about their new reality show, ‘The Braxtons,’ with the hosts. Thembi.
Trina and Towanda talk about grief and healing after losing their sister Traci
Grammy Award-winning recording artist Toni Braxton rose to fame after releasing her self-titled album in 1993. However, Toni isn’t the only one in the Braxton family to be in the spotlight. In 2011, the singer’s sisters, Towanda, Traci, Trina, Tamar and her mother, Evelyn, appeared on television screens with their own reality series, ‘Braxton Family Values’. 152 episodes After that, family became the main theme in the viewer’s life.
Despite the show’s success, the Braxton family faced a heartbreaking tragedy on March 12, 2022, when Traci passed away from cancer. Now, two years later, Traci and Towanda are sharing how their family is healing while dealing with the grief.
“I don’t think anyone can stop grieving,” Trina explained. “…[But] It’s a day-by-day process… I’ll never be done. But I can still continue to live my life in a positive way without feeling so sad and having to carry it around every day because it’s so heavy for me.”
In turn, Towanda shares how her experience of grief is different from Trina’s.
“One thing I know to be true is that you were a spiritual being before you were flesh and blood,” Towanda said. “So knowing that, I can understand that Traci — her spirit will never die. [and] She will always be with us. Of course, I have moments like, ‘Damn, she’s not here…’ that’s a wake-up call. But I know that Traci — her spirit is on the other side.”

Furthermore, speaking to Thembi, the sisters opened up about their return to reality TV after a four-year hiatus. Trina and Towanda revealed that before Traci passed away, they promised her that they would share her story with the world.
“… We have to tell her story because we promised her we would,” Towanda explained to Thembi before sharing what viewers can expect to see in the series. “This season with ‘The Braxtons,’ you’re going to see some never-before-seen photos and videos of Traci — her son, her only son… he’s also a part of the show, and then we go on this journey together.”
